Pearl June Sprague Geis was born in 1938 to Hersil and Lorraine Sprague near Dupree, SD. Shortly after graduation, she moved to Belle Fourche and went to work at the Bank of Belle Fourche now Pioneer Bank and Trust. She worked there off and on between kids for 20 plus years. After Pioneer Bank she stayed home and watched kids and raised her own until she went to work for the Soil Conservation District until she retired. For 25 years and the Geis family managed the Geis Memorial Golf tournament with funds dispersed to organizations that supported youth and athletic programs within the Belle Fourche Community.
In honor of the memory of Pearl June Geis, the Purple Pride has established this scholarship to continue the legacy of helping youth within the Belle Fourche Community.
